A new Intellectual Property Office (IPO) of Myanmar, formally known as Burma, has been set-up under the Ministry of Commerce of Myanmar and is being rolled out in two stages: 1. Soft Opening and 2. Grand of Opening
During the “Soft-opening” period (January – May 2020) trademark holders who have already registered their trademark under the Registration Act 1908, or the Deeds Registration Law 2018 in Myanmar must re-file their trademark during this period. In addition, during the soft opening stage, no new trademark will be received for registration. For new trademark applications in Myanmar, applicants can file in the second half of 2020 after the soft opening period ends on a first come first serve basis.
